Welcome to the Madras Institute of Ayurveda – the centre of Ayurvedic medicine and treatment, where age-old tradition meets modern techniques. With facilities for a whole range of quality ayurvedic treatments on par with the highest standards and finest traditions dating back to vedic times, MIA is headed by Dr. K. S. Manoj M.D. (AY) who is assisted by an accomplished team of trained and experienced therapists.

Contemporary amenities are provided for all types of treatments and therapies including Panchakarma treatment, Kerala Specialty Ayurvedic Treatments, and Rejuvenating Therapy, etc.

With an ever-increasing awareness about Ayurveda, the quest is on proper treatment and facilities by qualified and experienced therapists and physicians. When one thinks of Ayurveda, Kerala is what comes to mind. However, there exist too many constraints for patients – travel, language, accommodation for the duration of the treatment, etc. Moreover, heightened popularity of Ayurveda has led to the proliferation of Ayurvedic medicine shops but no qualified practitioner to guide or assist in treatment. MIA was established with the aim of bringing the same genuine treatment patterns with all facilities to a more accessible location.

Did You Know

Ancient Ayurvedic texts list 20 kinds of microscopic pathogenic organisms and describe the body as being composed of cells, thousands of years before the invention of the microscope. They also describe blood circulation thousands of years before William Harvey discovered it in the 17th century.

65% of India’s rural population uses Ayurveda.

One of the objectives of WHO (Traditional medicine strategy 2002-2005) is to bring Ayurveda and other traditional medicines into mainstream national health systems through national policies, research and streamlining.

As a part of this initiative, WHO has defined and documented various terms used in Ayurveda and other traditional medicines.

The Indian Government has a Department of Ayurveda providing
information on all aspects of Ayurvedic treatment and medicinal plants.

Conventional medical practitioners as well as medical research in the west
are increasingly turning to traditional medicine - a case in point: over 50%
of herbal therapie in Canada and Netherlands are provided by GPs.

As part of this rich tradition and contemporary interest in Ayurveda, MIA tries to:

Bring Ayurveda into mainstream medicine through its links with Vijaya Hospital.

Taps the potential of the ancient Ayurvedic system and integrates it with contemporary medicine.

Provides efficacy through increased regulation of safety and quality in its treatments.
