Samana Chikitsa

Ayurveda deals not only with treating ailments, but also permeates to the root cause of the ailments, preventing any further relapse or recurrence. Hence cure consists of not only prescribed medications and treatment forms but also is based on a strict diet regimen and schedule.

Treatment is part medication - Oushadham and part schedule - Padhyam. Padhyam is further classified into the food intake of an individual - Ahara and the activities he is involved in - Vihara.

This involves practice of a strict regimen both in food as well as in activities that a person indulges in. Swasthavritha or preventive measures and healthcare comprises an elaborate list of these activities, called Charyas. Practicing these charyas ensures a disease free body. A balanced state of healthy body, mind and spirituality is called Aroghya Soukhyam.

The Charyas are broadly classified into Dinacharya and Rithucharya. Dinacharya is the daily routine to be carried out in order to maintain optimal health and fitness.
